Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Michigan Medicine. Please complete an application form to be considered for volunteer placement.

Minimum Volunteer Requirements

Only complete an application form if you meet all requirements.

18 years of age or older
Willing to commit to at least one 2-4 hour volunteer shift per week for at least six months or two complete terms for students
Volunteers do not receive academic course credit for internships without approval from the relevant placement office
Volunteers do not receive monetary compensation
First-year college students please wait until at least your second semester before applying

Date ranges are approximate. For students, semester dates mirror first and last day of classes at the University of Michigan. For community members (non-students) there is more flexibility.

Many volunteer placements on our main hospital campus have been filled for the fall semester. We are still accepting applications for high-needs placements. You must commit to completing 40 hours in your first placement prior to selecting a new role. High-needs placements include: Gift Shop (main hospital campus), new Khan Pavilion Hospital (expected to open on main campus November 2025), Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels (vehicle required), Silver Club respite memory care (Blue Bus accessible), and Clinical Support and Wayfinding at: East Ann Arbor, Brighton Health Center, Northville Health Center and Domino's Farms. Please consider your access to transportation for these locations. You will be able to specify which of these locations interest you later in the application.
